BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is one of the fastest growing sports in the world and when it came to Europe it totally changed our way of fighting. No sport had ever before showed how important it was to be good on the ground in a real fight.

MIXED MARTIAL ARTS

Dynamix train and compete in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) at amateur and professional level. Dynamix also offers instructors courses where Dynamix instructors with documented skills within the sport teach you the basics to be a good MMA instructor.

SPORT JU-JUTSU

Sport Ju-jutsu (SJJ) is a modern style of ju-jitsu with kicks, punches, throws and ground techniques. The style is based on over 50 years experience of ju-jitsu as a competitive sport and as a way of physical exercise.

OUR HISTORY

In 1998 our organization was formed under the name
Sport Ju-Jutsu Scandinavia.

  • In 2007 Sport Ju-Jutsu Scandinavia became Dynamix Fighting Sports. The name change was made to better reflect the growth of the federation which 10 years after its origination had grown to include several fighting sports apart from just Sport Ju-Jutsu.

In the beginning the federation´s primary training focus was Sport Ju-Jutsu (SJJ), a modern style of Ju-Jutsu that centers on the sport of Ju-Jutsu rather than self defense. The style was created in the autumn of 1997 by Ingemar Sköld, one of Swedens Ju-Jutsu pioneers, and his best student Ricard Carneborn. Sport Ju-Jutsu quickly came to attract a lot of clubs for its efficient and fun way to train.

The system had training concepts for both children and adults, and even with the sport focus also contained self defense concepts. The self defense part had big influences from MMA (Mixed Martial Art) combined with more traditional elements from Ju-Jutsu (efficient wrist locks and powerful take downs). When Sport Ju-Jutsu Scandinavia was officially formed, three clubs were members from the start; Nacka Dojo, Herrljunga and Kraftverket. The federation grew very fast and in a couple of years more than 30 clubs had joined the federation.

Sport Ju-Jutsu spread to Norway in 2002 with the first club Kristiansand joining after taking the instructors course held by Ricard Carneborn and Andreas Gaugl. The year after, the Norwegian club Sentrum Kampsport joined and both clubs have produced many very good fighters over the years.

At an early stage, fighters within the organization also competed in various fighting sports such as Karate, Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as being a Sport Ju-Jutsu fighter means you can do a little (or a lot) of everything. Many SJJ fighters trained in these varied fighting arts to improve as overall fighters, and ended up winning a number of medals. The biggest achievements came in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu where the SJJ fighters won a lot of medals using their advantages in throws and takedowns combined with good skills on the ground.

    Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu collaboration
To improve the technical part of the ground game, instructors within the organization over the years attended different seminars in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to learn even more about the sport. After the JJIF World championships in Uruguay 2002, the Swedish team travelled to Brazil and Rio de Janeiro for vacation and more training. At the airport they met up with Professor Marcelo Santiago more widely known as “Yogui”.

Johan Blomdahl had met Yogui in Gothenburg a couple of times and had trained with him, so a contact had already been established. The Swedish team had some wonderful days in Rio and got to know the “Brazilian bear” very closely. Ricard Carneborn and Johan Blomdahl stayed in Brazil for a couple of weeks and trained at Marcelos club in Ipanema, and it was this trip that started the cooperation with Marcelo. Since 2011 we no longer work together with Marcelo.

SJJ Scandinavia became Dynamix Fighting Sports
Over the years the Sport Ju-Jutsu federation grew, the martial arts world changed and so did the federation. In 2007 Sport Ju-Jutsu Scandinavia became Dynamix Fighting Sports. The name change was made to better reflect the growth of the federation which 10 years after its origination had grown to include several fighting sports apart from just Sport Ju-Jutsu. Clubs that are a part of Dynamix Fighting Sports now mainly train and compete in Sport Ju-Jutsu, Brazilian Jiu-Jutsu, Mixed Martial Arts, Submission Wrestling, Karate, and Judo. What is common to all the Dynamix Fighting Sports clubs is that they train in these modern and dynamic fighting sports and compete in them as well.

More than 30 years experience in fighting sports
More then 25 clubs in Sweden, Norway and Denmark are currently (2014) members in the organization. Amongst the member clubs are some of the worlds finest practitioners and instructors, with more than 30 years experience in sports at all levels from basic up to elite. These practitioners contribute and dispense their knowledge in camps, seminars and lessons.
